The Cancer ARt Gallery

The ‘Cancer ARt Gallery’ is a series of augmented reality artworks using pop-culture and nostalgic themes to explain cancer biology. Each artwork is a collaborative process between an active cancer researcher and artist, mutually exploring creative expression to form an immersive and memorable experience. Seed funded by the Brisbane City Council Innovation Grant, Excite Science commissioned three artworks for proof-of-concept and user testing. This project was also selected for the 2021 STARTs-IN-Motion creative accelerator commissioned by the European Commission, and the 2021 Silbersalz Science and Media Pitch (Germany).
